They worked hard to ensure that all of the new developments in heat treating were addressed, including an effort to have articles that span both the scientific and practical aspects of steel heat treating fundamentals and processes. Jon and George are also co-editing the upcoming ASM Handbook, Volume 4B, Heat Treating of Irons and Steels—due out in 2014. Jon Dossett, actively involved for nearly 50 years with ASM International and the Heat Treating Society, found that "the position of being co-editor with George Totten on this 'total review' and update of the Volume 4, Heat Treating, to be most challenging and rewarding." George Totten also acknowledged the enormous amount of work, yet was quick to recognize the collaborative efforts of many people in the project. In particular, international participation is a priority given the global reach of research and production. Do you have an idea for a book?
